Worthy of Reflection

Be ye imitators of me stated the apostle Paul, not once but courageously twice!  1 Corinthians 4v16 & ch11v1

We can be thankful that a biblical predecessor took seriously the calling of teaching/training

another not purely be lecturing at him but by allowing him to draw alongside and watch closely.

So in his own way and some 900 hundred years earlier Elijah, at God’s clear direction (1 Kings 19v16), said to Elisha, watch me, observe me, learn my ways, walk in my footsteps – imitate me.

Take my place,

As prophet

Mentoring is like that, engaging others, bringing them close, opening our hearts in the desire they will learn deep and rich lessons to better their lives therefore being that needed godly influence within society.

As Christ followers though, it is hoped the reflection of Jesus is passed down into future generations by the commitment of one generation to the next

We can only be grateful that Elijah stayed true to the mentoring (disciple-ing) of Elisha and that Elisha proved himself a worthy vessel throughout his 60 years as prophet

Through Elisha’s ministry the hungry were fed, the sick were healed, dead were raised and God’s instructions were made clear to the people.  Now surely this was a true reflection of things to come

Paul said to imitate him, (but only) as he imitates Christ.

Now we can only but imagine what would occur if people were to whole heartedly imitate Jesus Christ

Being His reflection out in the community

Blessings
