Locked Doors & a Wedding
Pastor Sione from the Wesleyan Church spoke to us last week from Matthew ch25 where Christ paints a story of a bridal party in limbo waiting for the bridegroom to show up. Five of the bridesmaids fully prepared themselves whereas the remaining five procrastinated.
The whole group of young ladies snoozed off till the call rang out, “arise and go to your positions for the bridegroom is coming.” The five wise took their place with Him and went into the wedding, whereas the remainder of the group, being caught on the hop were running around in a panic trying to get the required necessities together
The outcome was not good for the unprepared ones
They were locked out
No amount of requesting even to the Bridegroom Himself got the door open
Not even a gap appeared
The door was soundly shut and bolted from the inside
His disturbing answer to their pleading;
“Assuredly I say to you I do not know you” is troubling and even the more so when its realised Christ is talking about the separation of people, some of whom will enter into the Kingdom of God and some who will not. Some have practised a form of religion but always denying its power and the others who have submitted to the Lordship of the Bridegroom which in the parable showed up as lamps (us) full of oil –the oil being the Holy Spirit given to all who truly are His as a seal of God’s ownership ( 2 Cor 1v22 & Romans 8v14-16.)
Christ’s words “I do not know you” can be seen as meaning I do not perceive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within and only those born of the Spirit can enter in, many are called but few are chosen
Pastor Sione’s presentation on the September 2011 Logan City house fire and the intolerable loss of life was heart wrenching and is seen as a sombre reminder that we know not the hour nor the day
